Abstract

This study addresses the creation of business competitiveness indices, focusing on the tourism sector, with the aim of providing a comprehensive model for understanding the determining factors beyond mere measurement. The research, of correlational scope and deductive approach, employs a non-experimental quantitative method with a probabilistic sample of 444 companies. The instrument used demonstrates high reliability with a Cronbach's alpha of .957. Methodological processes include establishing a competitiveness index and verifying its efficiency through techniques such as multifactorial linear regression, artificial neural networks (ANN), and structural equation modeling (SEM). The findings reveal that, while linear indices are optimal for establishing comparative references, they tend to be overestimated in managerial decision-making. The proposed model achieves an accuracy of 92.8% in comprehending five key competitiveness factors and their complex relationships, without reacting to external factors.
