De quiénes son a cómo se sienten: Perfilando las emociones de los visitantes en el turismo costero

Las experiencias emocionales positivas desempeñan un papel fundamental en el avance de la sostenibilidad turística al fomentar una mayor participación de los visitantes, su lealtad y una mayor intención de volver al destino. Este estudio examina cómo las características demográficas y relacionadas con los viajes influyen en las experiencias emocionales de los visitantes en destinos costeros. A partir de una encuesta realizada a 602 visitantes de playas en Ghana, se utilizó la regresión de mínimos cuadrados ordinarios para evaluar la influencia predictiva de variables como la edad, el género, la educación, los ingresos, el origen del visitante, el propósito del viaje, el tipo de visita, la duración de la estancia y el grupo de viaje sobre siete constructos emocionales: asombro, alegría, calma, apego afectivo, afecto amoroso, tristeza y arrepentimiento. Los resultados indican que las emociones positivas (alegría, calma, afecto amoroso, asombro) y reflexivas (apego) están significativamente influenciadas por mayores ingresos, educación superior, viajes de ocio y estancias más largas, mientras que las emociones negativas (arrepentimiento, tristeza), aunque menos frecuentes, se asocian con una edad más joven, menores ingresos y visitas más cortas. Estos resultados contribuyen a las explicaciones teóricas de la variabilidad emocional en el turismo y ofrecen perspectivas para diseñar experiencias turísticas costeras inclusivas y con gran impacto emocional que mejoren la satisfacción del destino. La identificación de los principales factores afectivos proporciona a los gestores de destinos herramientas para adaptar sus experiencias a diversos perfiles de visitantes, al tiempo que impulsa la investigación sobre las emociones al aportar evidencia de un contexto poco explorado de África Occidental que pone de relieve las dimensiones afectivas de la experiencia turística costera.
