The objective of this study was to implement an artificial intelligence model for the characterization of tourists in La Guajira, Colombia, in order to improve the personalization of tourism offers. Synthetic data were generated based on previous studies and surveys of the sector, which were then processed using the K-means segmentation algorithm. This algorithm made it possible to classify tourists into three categories: cultural, nature and family, based on variables such as educational level, occupation and travel motivations. The results demonstrated an effective segmentation of the profiles, with high internal cohesion among the clusters under controlled simulation conditions; results that are hypothetical and pending empirical validation. Under these conditions, the model could potentially facilitate the adaptation of marketing strategies and tourism services to the specific characteristics of each group. Although synthetic data was key in this phase, it is concluded that validation with real data is essential to ensure the applicability of the model in real environments.
