Revisión de la Literatura Científica sobre Airbnb: Pasado, Presente y Futuro

Resumen

Airbnb ha experimentado una evolución que, con el pasar de los años desde su lanzamiento, ha capturado crecientemente la atención de la comunidad investigadora. Este interés se debe a los impactos variados y significativos que Airbnb ha tenido en el sector del alojamiento, abarcando desde una mayor accesibilidad hasta inquietudes relacionadas con la asequibilidad de la vivienda. El presente estudio analiza la tendencia general de Airbnb, la plataforma líder de alquiler a corto plazo. Se realiza un análisis exhaustivo de 385 artículos que incluyen las palabras clave "Airbnb" y "alquiler", y que están indexados en la Web of Science (WoS). En este análisis, se identifican los temas más influyentes, se examinan los artículos más citados, y se destacan los autores predominantes y las instituciones más prolíficas, además de explorar las conexiones geográficas entre ellos. Este artículo proporciona una visión integral 360º de la literatura sobre la plataforma, ofreciendo un estudio único que cubre el período más reciente y analiza las áreas relacionadas con todas las publicaciones indexadas en WoS. El estudio se propone como una herramienta y guía para los académicos, facilitando la identificación de futuras vías de desarrollo en este dinámico campo.

  • Júlia Martí Ochoa, Universitat de Lleida

    She is doing a PhD thesis about sharing economy accommodation in Spanish destinations, under the PhD program in Law and business administration. She holds a master’s degree in social media marketing and master’s degree in education. She has graduated in Business science and management in Universitat Pompeu Fabra and, she did the exchange in Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. She is an associate professor at Higher Polytechnic School in Universitat de Lleida.

  • Eva Martin-Fuentes, Universitat de Lleida

    Eva Martin-Fuentes is an associate professor for the Department of Economics and Business at the University of Lleida, UdL (Spain) where she has been recognized twice with the Teaching Excellence Award for the areas of tourism management and social media. She has also been awarded by the Catalan Government with the Vicens Vives Distinction for the University Quality Teaching. She holds an international PhD in Engineering and Information Technologies with the qualification of Excellent Cum Laude, which was awarded the 2019 Thesis Excellence Award for a Doctoral Thesis by the International Federation for Information Technologies and Travel & Tourism (IFITT) and with the extraordinary award of University of Lleida. Her research interests focus on e-tourism and social media, especially in the hospitality industry.

  • Berta Ferrer-Rosell, Universitat de Lleida

    Berta Ferrer-Rosell is Associate Professor (Serra Hunter Fellow) at the Department of Economics and Business at the University of Lleida. She currently serves as vice dean of International Relations at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Tourism. She is a council member of the CoDA-Assocation and of Asociación Española de Expertos Científicos en Turismo (AECIT). She serves on the editorial boards of several journals, such as the European Journal of Tourism Research, Journal of Information Technology & Tourism and Consumer Behavior in Tourism and Hospitality. She holds an International PhD in Tourism from University of Girona and University of Balearic Islands (Excellent Cum Laude and Extraordinary Doctoral Thesis Award, 2014); a MSc in Tourism Planning and Management; and a BA in Tourism. She is post-doctoral researcher in the Research Group on Tourism and social Knowledge Economy (TURESCO 2021SGR00001) of University of Lleida, and has been Visiting Academic at Virginia Tech University (USA) and at Bournemouth University (UK). Her research interests focus tourism, e-marketing, social media, sharing accommodation and compositional data.
